Vote in the consular elections! Your vote counts double...
Consular elections elect representatives of French citizens abroad who also serve as grand electors, voting for the senators representing French nationals overseas.
Grand electors and senatorial elections
The 9 councillors and 12 delegates elected for the United Kingdom are also grand electors. As such, they participate in the election of senators representing French citizens abroad.
France has 12 senators representing the French living abroad. In September 2026, 6 of them will be up for renewal.
By voting in the consular elections, you are not only choosing your local representatives — you are also helping to shape the composition of the French Senate.
