UK entry for dual nationals without a British passport
⚠️ Entry to the United Kingdom: ETA becomes mandatory from 25 February
The British government has announced that from 25 February 2026, the requirement to present an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) will be fully enforced for entry to the United Kingdom.
Since October 2025, the EU nationals had been affected by the roll-out. With this extension, the measure now applies to all non-British citizens.
What does this mean for Franco-British dual nationals?
If you hold both French and British nationality, you can enter the UK with your British passport without needing an ETA. British passport holders cannot apply for an ETA. If you can only present your French passport, you are at risk of being prevented from embarking if a dual citizen.
📌 Our advice: always travel with your British passport to avoid any complications at the border.
